Topic:	Many to One: Managing Multiple APEX Applications.

Location:	Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality Galvez Building, Oliver Pollock Room 602 N. Fifth Street, Baton Rouge, LA, 70802.
Meeting Minutes:	Prior to the first presentation, members, guests and participants mingled and enjoyed the light breakfast setup by the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) cafeteria. The meeting, held in the Oliver Pollock Room located in the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) building was called to order by Muhammad Riaz around 10:30 A.M. The new board members for BROUG 2009 were introduced. The officers of BROUG are President - Muhammad Riaz, Vice President - Chiew-Hong Lee, Treasurer - Cheng Zhang, Secretary - Barry Drufner and Web-Master - Nawazuddin Khaja (Nick). Muhammad introduced Scott Spendolini, President and Founder of Sumner Technologies. Spendolin’s company specializes in Oracle Application Express (APEX) applications. His morning presentation was titled, Many to One: Managing Multiple ORACLE APEX Applications. After lunch provided by Subway, Spendolini delivered his afternoon APEX presentation titled, You Can’t do That in a Browser - Version 2. Upon completion of Spendolini’s two presentations, a short question and answer (Q&A) session ensued, After the Q&A was complete, Muhammad informed the group that he was in preliminary discussions with Ron Mayfield of Oracle to provide a training seminar on Oracle Cluster for BROUG members. Additionally, Muhammad asked members to please pay any outstanding dues payable to South Central Oracle User Group (SCOUG) for 2009 to fund the future endeavors of BROUG. Topic:	Oracle Discoverer 10g
Date:	01/17/2008
Speaker:	Michael Armstrong, Business Intelligence Consultant for Oracle Discoverer Desktop product.
Location:	Oliver Polloc Room, DEQ Headquarters Galvez Conference Center.
Meeting Minutes:	Muhammad Riaz opened the meeting by greeting all. He introduced himself as the new President of BROUG. This was followed by introduction of the new office members, namely Matt Turland as the new Vice President, Suma Rao as the Secretary, June Zhu as the Treasurer and Paul Dunbar as the new Web Master. Muhammad outlined the purpose of the BROUG and encouraged new membership as well as continuing the existing membership from the members. Members were also urged to participate and take initiatives in the upcoming BROUG activities. A survey form that invited member’s opinion on the upcoming technical presentations were presented to all those who were present. The members were also asked to use the FaceBook profile set up for BROUG. This way they would be able to participate in an open forum for any exchange of technical information. He gave a stimulating presentation on Oracle Discoverer 10g. He also presented 2 books authored by him on Oracle Discoverer 10g to BROUG. One book is inducted into BROUG library so it can be borrowed by any of the members, while the other was used for the door prize. The slides and video of the presentation will be available to the BROUG via website. Members participated in the presentation by asking relevant questions, which were answered by Mr. Armstrong. The members enjoyed the lunch which was picked up from SUBWAY. Muhammad thanked the speaker for a wonderful presentation and keeping up with the tradition of BROUG, presented him with a BROUG T shirt. Mr. Armstrong did the prize drawing for one door prize and Mr. Brian Berger won the Oracle Discoverer book. Matt Turland asked the members to check in to their lunch boxes for a miniature baby doll. Mr. Tom Sands of DEQ confirmed that he did find one in his box. He was then presented with another door prize, a 2 gig MP3 player, courtesy of Methods Technology Solutions Inc. Muhammad Riaz thanked everyone for attending the meeting and notified all to check the website for all the future activities of BROUG. He also promised an exciting year ahead and once again urged the participation of all to make this BROUG year a success.

Topic:	Oracle SQL for Modeling

Speaker:	Laurent Schneider.
Location:	Oliver Polloc Room, DEQ Headquarters Galvez Conference Center.
Meeting Minutes:	All enjoyed a brilliant presentation titled ‘Oracle SQL for Modeling‘by Mr. Laurent Schneider. In spite of some operational mishaps with the overhead projector, Mr. Schneider held the audience attention with his stimulating and highly technical topic of SQL Modeling. This was followed by a question and answer session, where audience participated by asking questions, which were answered by Mr. Schneider. Members and participants mingled and enjoyed the lunch from POBOY EXPRESS. Mr. Schneider drew the lots for door prizes. Mr. Asif Naqvi of Methods Technology Solutions Inc. won the food coupons for Almaza Café, Baton Rouge, while Ms Carol Morrow of Edgen Murray Corp won the MP3 player that was sponsored by Methods Technology Solutions Inc. Mr. Schneider was thanked for his presentation and was presented with a Louisiana gift bouquet, which included Louisiana cuisine recipe book and special blend of local coffee from Community Coffees. Members were reminded and were urged to pay their pending dues once again and on that note the meeting was adjourned.

Topic:	Oracle Geodatabases and Spatial databases

Location:	Oliver Polloc Room, DEQ Headquarters Galvez Conference Center.
Meeting Minutes:	Members and participants mingled and enjoyed the lunch provided by POBOY EXPRESS. After lunch, Muhammad Riaz introduced Dallas Shearer from the Department of Natural Resources. He gave an excellent presentation on Oracle Geodatabases and Spatial databases Cheng Zhang provided a summary of the 2008 BROUG year and activities. June Zhu offered details on the budget, expenses and receipts for 2008 Certificates of Appreciation were presented by Muhammad Riaz to the executive board consisting of Vice President - Cheng Zhang, Treasurer - June Zhu, Secretary - Suma Rao and Web Master - Paul Dunbar Elizabeth Richey and Sandra Bernard presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Muhammad Riaz Nominees for the 2008 - 2009 BROUG Board were introduced by Chairman of the Election Committee Sandra Bernard and the slate was elected by acclamation. The 2008 - 2009 officers of BROUG are President - Muhammad Riaz, Vice President - Chiew-Hong Lee, Treasurer - Cheng Zhang and Secretary - Barry Drufner There was additional discussion about the possibility in the near future of borrowing books from the BROUG library from the web master Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.

Topic:	Oracle XE product
Date:	01/18/2007
Speaker:	Angela Copeland, Department of Natural Resources,Baton Rouge,LA.
Location:	LaSalle Bldg – 11th Floor – Training Facility.
Meeting Minutes:	Elizabeth Richey opened by greeting everyone and thanked ODTUG for providing handouts and the door prize book (“Oracle HTML DB”). Elizabeth explained the ruling from the Ethics Board concerning door prizes that can be accepted by state government employees. This ruling is available upon request. She asked that everyone please fill out the survey placed at each seat in order to help the current officers plan the best meetings possible. A new “Technical Questions” section of the meeting was introduced. Members can bring up questions personally during this section of the meeting, or questions can be placed in the “Question” box and one will be drawn each meeting for discussion. Members were reminded to pay dues. Elizabeth introduced Angela Copeland, who is with the DNR Applications staff. Angela gave an excellent demonstration of her Oracle XE application that is used by DNR Conservation Field Inspectors. Ron Mayfield of Oracle was on hand to answer questions concerning the functionality of the Oracle XE product. After the presentation, thanks were given to Angela, Ron Mayfield and our new Oracle Consultant, Craig DeAngelis. The door prize drawing resulted in the book being awarded to Phil Huval of Methods Technologies. Taranza Barnett gave a brief Treasury report, indicating that our balance (before expenses for this meeting) was $617.16. Elizabeth again reminded members to fill out and leave the survey form, and to renew their membership and pay dues.

Topic:	Oracle RAC with or without ASM

Location:	Pensacola Room, DEQ Headquarters Galvez Conference Center.
Meeting Minutes:	Elizabeth Richey opened by greeting everyone and introduced herself once again as a President of Baton Rouge Oracle User Group to the new members and welcomed them. Elizabeth encouraged the members to ask questions of their interests during the meetings and reminded to submit the topics for the upcoming meetings. She requested all the members to pay their dues if not paid yet and asked for their input in planning for the upcoming January 2008 meeting. Members can send their suggestions and comments by e-mailing the webmaster for BROUG. Elizabeth introduced the presenter Mike Ault, Domain Specialist Oracle Quest Software who gave an excellent presentation on “Oracle RAC with or without ASM”. Elizabeth asked a question “What if someone wants to move to the RAC architecture, what are the issues involved with such a migration?” Elizabeth notified the users that the slides of the presentation will be posted on the website. She reminded all the members to invite other oracle users and to check the website for topics, items and to provide feedback for the meetings. Chiew Hong Lee did the prize drawing and Muhammad Riaz of Methods Technologies and Kenny Watts won the door prizes. Elizabeth thanked the presenter and all the members for attending the meeting again.

Topic:	Oracle SQL Developer Tips and Techniques

Speaker:	Dan Hotka, Training Specialist.
Location:	Oliver Polloc Room, DEQ Headquarters Galvez Conference Center.
Meeting Minutes:	Elizabeth Richey opened by greeting everyone and introduced herself once again as President of Baton Rouge Oracle User Group and welcomed all the members. She reminded the members that the Discoverer Business Intelligence (BI) presentation would now be in January 2008 and that the upcoming elections for new BROUG members would be held in November 2007. She encouraged all the members to volunteer their time for the organization and to make their nomination for the officer positions. She then explained the election procedure and announced that there has been a minor changes to the By Laws that received no objections. She called for a show of hands for anyone opposed to accepting the new ByLaws. No objections were raised, so the new ByLaws are adopted and will be posted as such on the web site. Elizabeth introduced the speaker “Dan Hotka” who is a Training Specialist and has over 29 years in the computer industry and over 24 years of experience with Oracle products. His presentation was on Oracle SQL Developer Tips and Techniques. The door prize winner was Paul Dunbar of Methods Technology Solutions, Inc and Linda Hatter of DEQ, both won a SQL Developer Tips and Techniques book by Dan Hotka. Elizabeth again reminded all the members about the upcoming elections and to volunteer for BROUG as well as about the Discoverer BI presentation in January. At the end she thanked the presenter for such a wonderful presentation and presented him with an official BROUG T-shirt and also thanked all the members for attending the meeting.

Speaker:	Jason Oskamp and Juan-Carlos Martinez.
Location:	Carver Branch Library.
Meeting Minutes:	Susan Adams opened by greeting everyone and having everyone introduce themselves. Several new members were present. Sandra Bernard briefly shared information about the upcoming Crawfish Boil- June 3, 2006, from 2:00 – 5:00pm at Perkins Road Park. Details are on the website. We are still looking for corporate sponsors. Registration incentive: register and pay by May 25 and be entered into a drawing for a free Oracle PL/SQL Class at LANtec. T-shirts were available for members- they look great! Technical Presentation: BPEL by Jason Oskamp and Juan-Carlos Martinez. Ron Mayfield, our local Oracle rep, was also present. Presenter Jason Oskamp was presented with a BROUG shirt. Teaser information was given about the July meeting - Tom Kyte will be our speaker. Door Prize Winners: Ron Solomon of Our Lady of the Lake, Bonnie Williams of DEQ, Debra Lazare of Methods, Hayward Chappell of LANtec. Taranza Barnett from DEQ won the movie tickets. Her name was drawn from all of those who correctly solved the Sudoku puzzle.

Topic:	Edgen Corp. and their use of Oracle Applications

Location:	Baton Rouge Area Foundation.
Meeting Minutes:	Susan Adams opened by greeting everyone. She announced that Elizabeth Richey has volunteered for the Election Committee. All volunteer offers, as well as nominations for officers can be sent to the “webmaster” email address. Susan introduced Randy Harless from Edgen Corp. Mr. Harless gave an excellent presentation on Edgen Corp. and their use of Oracle Applications. Elizabeth Richey asked for members to get involved by serving as officers and be active in sending in nominations or volunteering for the Election Committee. She also reminded everyone that the next meeting’s presentation will be given by Peter Koletzke, co-author of several Oracle books. Also, this meeting will be when new officers are elected. Nominations will be posted on the website. Door Prize Winner: Randy Harless won the Jeep dual-flashlight door prize. He graciously tried to give it to someone else, but BROUG officers stood by the drawing. Mr. Harless also won the movie tickets awarded for solving the Newsletter puzzle since he was the only person present that has sent in a correct solution.

Topic:	Java topics and their relationship to Oracle

Location:	Baton Rouge Regional Library – Bluebonnet Location.
Meeting Minutes:	Susan Adams opened by greeting everyone and thanked Methods Technology for sponsoring the presentation. She then turned the meeting over to Elizabeth Richey for the Officer Election process. Certificates of Appreciation were distributed to the 2006 officers. Nominees were announced and introduced. Ballots were distributed, to be collected and counted at the end of the meeting. A survey concerning the 2006 BROUG activities was also distributed to collect feedback from members. The results will be used to continue and improve the quality of these meetings. Elizabeth introduced Peter Koletzke from Quovera. Mr. Koletzke gave an excellent presentation on Java topics and their relationship to Oracle. Slides from the presentation are posted on the website home page. At the end of the presentation, Susan presented Mr. Koletzke with a BROUG shirt. Each guest was given a packaged sample of coffee (Louisiana "Java") compliments of Community Coffee. Election results: Elizabeth Richey, President Chiew-Hong Lee, Vice-President Taranza Barnett, Treasurer Muhammed Riaz, Secretary Fran Calhoun volunteered to act as our Webmaster.
